- Founded in 1991 by the leaders of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine to address primarily common economic development, foreign economic policy, infrastructure and security
- Current member states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan
- Associated state: Turkmenistan
- Withdrawn members/associated states: Georgia, Ukraine
