According to World Population Review 2023, Kazakhstan ranks 4th among the countries with the lowest poverty rate. In 2018, only 4.3% of the population earned less than the national poverty line. The national poverty line is set at 50% of the median income for a year in a country.

However, in comparison with European countries, the Kazakh population earns rather little. About 41 percent of the population earns less than $10 per day.
